Airport codes are three-letter identifiers assigned to airports around the world. Each and every airport in the world has one.

They are used to help identify specific airports in flight plans and other documentation. Basically, it’s the equivalent of a social security number. It’s their unique identification code.

As you may know, some cities have the same name even though they are in completely different countries. For example, Melbourne is a city in Australia as well as in Florida.
